Disneyland is one of the most searched destinations we hear about when talking to people with disabilities, families, and carers. At disability expos, the Disney logos alone often stop people in their tracks. The reaction is instant – excitement, nostalgia, and then the same question every time:

Can people with disabilities go to Disneyland?

Our answer is yes. With the right planning and support we can make the trip possible.

Accessible Disneyland tours require far more than booking tickets and hoping for the best. Crowds, long days, international travel, accessibility systems, language barriers, and physical fatigue can quickly turn a dream into something overwhelming. That is why specialist disability travel to Disneyland matters.

At ClubMates Travel, we design and lead supported holidays to Disneyland specifically for adults with disabilities. These are not generic theme park trips. They are carefully structured, fully supported experiences that balance accessibility, pacing, confidence building, and inclusion.

We aim to run one Disney-focused international trip each year, refining our approach each time to ensure our passengers can experience the magic safely and comfortably.

Why Disneyland Is So Popular for Disability Travel

Disney parks are magic in themselves. They are immersive, joyful, structured, and familiar, even in another country. For many people with disabilities, Disneyland represents a place they have dreamed about for years but never believed was a realistic destination

However, Disneyland disability travel comes with real challenges.

Theme parks are large, busy, loud, and physically demanding. Without expert support, they can be exhausting or inaccessible, particularly for people who:

  • Use wheelchairs or mobility aids
  • Require personal or physical support
  • Experience anxiety or sensory overload
  • Have never travelled internationally
  • Need help navigating unfamiliar systems

This is where accessible Disneyland trips with trained travel support workers make all the difference.

Is Disneyland Wheelchair Accessible?

This is one of the most common questions we are asked.

Is Disneyland wheelchair accessible?

Yes – but with important limitations.

Many rides and attractions are wheelchair accessible, but not all. Some rides require transfers, some have height or safety restrictions, and others simply are not suitable for wheelchairs. That is why wheelchair accessible Disneylandexperiences need to be planned carefully.

Importantly, Disneyland is not just about rides.

Shows, parades, themed environments, music, characters, and visual experiences mean that every passenger can still have a full and meaningful day, even if some rides are not accessible to them.

Our role is to ensure no one feels excluded or left waiting while others participate.

How to Plan an Accessible Disneyland Trip Properly

How to plan an accessible Disneyland trip goes far beyond reading a park website.

When we plan disability friendly Disneyland tours, it is important to consider all aspects of the trip. We know which passes we need and what these give us to ensure a magical experience for passengers but also what rides each park offers and whether they are suitable. It is also extremely important to understand just how tiring Disney can be, the amount of people alone can be overwhelming but adding on top of those new experiences, environments and just walking around the park makes it a big day and/or trip. Our support staff and aware of this and take fatigue into account when planning days and itineraries. We look into spaces within the park that can offer refuge from the busy crowds, quieter places for our group to take a rest while still enjoying Disney.

This is knowledgeable and detailed planning separates true supported travel to Disneyland from self-organised trips or unsupported group travel.

Our Recent Accessible Disneyland Trips

2025 – Hong Kong Disneyland

Our most recent accessible Disneyland holiday took passengers to Hong Kong Disneyland, combined with a full week of supported international travel.

Over seven days, the group:

  • Explored Hong Kong by accessible bus
  • Travelled through city streets and cultural areas
  • Took a river cruise across the harbour
  • Visited a high lookout with panoramic city views
  • Spent two full days at Disneyland
  • Continued city exploration before returning home

Disneyland being the main activity had passengers very excited to see as much as possible. With our expert planning and knowledge of the disability access systems, the group was able to move efficiently through the park, avoiding unnecessary waiting and stress.

Some passengers used wheelchairs. Some rides were accessible, others were not. But our team made it their mission to ensure each passenger still had a full Disney experience, including all of the fun excitement and thrills through Disney’s different shows, music, themed areas, and our groups shared moments together.

A standout moment was staying for the Disneyland night light show, which was only described as absolutely incredible. However, afterwards tens of thousands of people exited the park at once. This could have easily caused a nightmare for our group but with our experienced support workers and their strong communication with park staff, the group was able to safely and calmly go through the crowds.

This is where disability support at Disneyland truly matters.

2024 – Japan and Disneyland

The year before, we led supported group tours to Disneyland in Japan, navigating a very different country, language, and transport system.

A trip to Japan is nothing short of amazing, with so many sights and activities along with Disneyland. Passengers found themselves going 320km/h on the infamous bullet train, only to hop out and take in the breathtaking view of Japan’s most iconic mountain, Mt Fuji! This lucky group then got to explore the sights of Tokyo, a bustling city with a vibrant culture, only to then be transported into a world of anime and Pokemon at the Pokemon Museum. Each moment on this trip was something to be remembered forever, the food and the experiences, all something seemingly out of a movie.

However, all these moments come with complexity, the trip ran smoothly due to detailed preparation and experienced travel support workers.

One passenger, Zell, loved the experience so much that he booked again the following year and joined our Hong Kong Disneyland trip. That return booking reflects confidence, trust, and enjoyment.

 2026 – Shanghai Disneyland

Looking ahead, we are preparing our next Disneyland accessible holiday at Shanghai Disneyland.

This trip is looking like it should not be missed, along with exploring the enchanting Shanghai Disneyland, this tour will cruise the Zhujiajiao’s canals and take in the spellbinding bridges and temples. Passengers will ride the bullet train and walk the Great Wall; they will explore the Shanghai Natural History Museum and be blown away by exhilarating Circus at Shanghai Circus World.

This trip is looking at being one of our most exciting Disney trips yet and it all includes a dedicated and experienced support staff team to make sure each and every passenger gets a mind-blowing trip.

Why We Choose Asia for Supported Disneyland Travel

We are often asked why we do not currently offer supported Disneyland tours to the USA or Paris.

The reason is practical and passenger focused. In Southeast Asia we are able to offer our passengers lower out-of-pocket costs, shorter flight times to reduce any fear of long haul flights, and a chance to learn about a new international culture in a safe and accessible way.

We aim to make supported international travel for disabilities more achievable and sustainable.

What Passengers Tell Us

Across our accessible Disneyland tours, feedback is consistent.

For many, it was their first international trip. For some, it was the first time travel felt possible at all.

Just watch our recent trip to Hong Kong Disneyland on YouTube to see just how much our passengers enjoyed this tour. You can see the growth in our passenger from beginning to end in this video, their relief and joy of not having to stress about the logistics of their trip. It is truly special to see and create these moments with groups; their happiness can be felt through the screen.

Travelling to Disneyland with a Disability Is Possible

Travelling to Disneyland with a disability does not have to remain a dream.

With the right planning, experienced support, and realistic expectations, Disneyland can be accessible, empowering, and unforgettable.

We continue to refine our accessible Disneyland tours every year, learning from each trip and improving the experience for future passengers.

If Disney lights you up but you are unsure how it could work, you are not alone. With the right support beside you, the magic really is possible.

China is one of those countries that keeps surprising people—especially when you see the landscapes that don’t even look real. Towering rainbow mountains, glass walkways over steep cliffs, mist-covered peaks that inspired movies like Avatar—China’s natural wonders feel like stepping into another world.

And guess what? With the right support and planning, these mind-blowing places can be explored by people of all abilities. At ClubMates Travel, we believe that accessible travel should be more than just getting from A to B—it should be about awe, wonder, and saying “I can’t believe I’m actually here.”

Here are a few incredible spots in China that look out of this world—and why they might just end up on your travel wishlist.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park – The Real-Life Pandora

Ever seen floating mountains? Well, you’re about to. Zhangjiajie is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the inspiration behind the flying mountains in Avatar. Giant stone pillars rise up through misty clouds—it’s so surreal it feels like CGI.

There are cable cars and glass elevators that take you up into the peaks, and accessible walkways in many areas, making this a great option for travel for people with disabilities when paired with the right support crew.

The Rainbow Mountains – Zhangye Danxia Geopark

Imagine layers of red, orange, gold, and green rock stretched across rolling hills. These colourful formations look like someone took a paintbrush to the land. They’re even more breathtaking in person.

The Rainbow Mountains are best explored in daylight hours when the colours shine brightest. Some viewing platforms and paths are paved and can be navigated with mobility assistance. Like all our accessible holidays, having specialist travel support makes a huge difference in comfort and safety.

Yuanyang Rice Terraces – A Living Mirror

At sunrise or sunset, the rice terraces of Yuanyang reflect the sky like an enormous mirror. It’s peaceful, dreamlike, and incredibly calming—perfect for travellers who want to slow down, connect with nature, and just take it all in.

This spot is especially powerful for people who are working toward NDIS goals like mindfulness, emotional regulation, or confidence in new environments. With supported travel, it’s more than sightseeing—it becomes a sensory and emotional experience.

The Glass Bridge – Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon

If you’re feeling brave, there’s a 430-metre-long glass bridge suspended over the canyon. Yes—it’s see-through. But it’s also safe, sturdy, and absolutely unforgettable. For those not afraid of heights, this is an epic moment that will stick with you for life.

We understand that thrill-seeking looks different for everyone. At ClubMates, our support crew are trained to encourage, not push—so passengers can take part in activities at their own comfort level.

Jiuzhaigou Valley – China’s Fairytale Water World

Think turquoise lakes, sparkling waterfalls, and snow-capped peaks. Jiuzhaigou is a dreamscape—peaceful, scenic, and full of charm. It’s also one of the more accessible nature parks in China, with eco buses and walkways that help make the journey smoother.

This kind of environment is great for building confidence, promoting social participation, and feeling part of something beautiful.

Why China? Why ClubMates?

Travelling to a country as big and bold as China might feel impossible—but that’s where we come in. As one of Australia’s most experienced NDIS holiday providers, we specialise in international supported travel that opens up the world for people with disabilities. We design every itinerary to work toward common NDIS goals—things like independence, community access, resilience, and joy.

Our team handles everything: accessible hotels, ground transport, daily activities, and of course, personal support workers who are trained specifically for disability travel.

If you’ve ever dreamt of seeing the Great Wall, watching lanterns float across the sky, or standing in a place that feels like another planet—then maybe it’s time to get curious.

ClubMates makes accessible travel across the globe achievable, enjoyable, and unforgettable.

Talk to our team about our upcoming tours to China or ask about designing your own supported adventure. We’ll help you figure out how your supports work with your NDIS funding and what out-of-pocket costs you can expect.

Because no one should miss out on the wonders of the world—especially you.
